Kinetic Sculpture

Kinetic Sculpture for Art+Com

This is a concept I developed for Berlin-based studio Art+Com. The final sculpture has been inaugurated in Manila in February 2015. It is composed of 100 elements of 30cm diameter each, distributed on a total length of 100 meters.

My idea was to rethink the way Kinetic sculptures are usually designed and to enable innovative animation by hanging the moving elements with 2 cables instead of one. This way, each element can be positioned using polar coordinates, thus allowing for all sorts of animations in 3 dimensions instead of 2.
The same principle has been used for RGB|CMY KINETIC by Art+Com, premiered at Sónar Barcelona in 2015 (details here).
